SL cricket team attacked

This is the first time players have been directly targeted by terror attack.

Terror struck at the heart of cricket when masked gunmen attacked the bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Five cricketers, including Mahela Jayawardene, the Sri Lankan captain, and his deputy Kumar Sangakkara, received minor injuries. The attack also left six security men and two civilians dead.

India won the one-off Twenty20 match with Sri Lanka. India came back from nowhere riding on a superlative partnership between the Pathan brothers unbeaten 59 in 25 balls.

Dilshan promoted to Sri Lanka T20 captain.

Sri Lankan officials promoted Tillakaratne Dilshan to captain for the one-off twenty20 match against India on Feb 10 2009.

Some of the players rested/omitted were Test and ODI captain Mahela Jayawardene, wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara and spinners Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis

Making the team are Suranga Lakmal newcommer and Lasith Malinga.

5th ODI India Sri Lanka.

SriLanka finally came to the party today as their batsman made India suffer. Jayasuriya started the proceedings with some crisp shots and set the momentum for a big score. It was Sri Lanka's day start to finish as they made ammends for some poor cricket for the past 10 days.
